On April 23, the nationwide Career Day for boys and girls took place. Naturally, LIST also participated in the event, which gives children and teenagers a glimpse into the working world.
“Above all, we give participants an insight into the field of digital planning,” says Kathrin Kramer, Head of People & Teams at the List Gruppe. The varied day’s program was developed by LIST trainees: Using the LIST office building in Nordhorn, “Our Office,” as a model, the participants experienced the holistic planning process for a property. Starting with 2D planning and moving on to 3D modeling, the children worked in small groups under expert guidance toward a real highlight of the day: a virtual tour of the model using VR goggles and a drone flight to create a point cloud model.
From theory to practice.
In addition to the theoretical planning, which can be experienced in the actual completed building, the practical aspect was not neglected either. “Another highlight of Future Day is the team game ‘Bridge Building,’” explains Kathrin Kramer. Working as a group, the participants developed concepts for creating a load-bearing bridge structure using A4 paper and tape. This resulted in impressive structures ranging from suspension bridges to those with support pillars and other ingenious designs. Antje Hüsing and Joel Kleine-Lambers, both BIM modelers at LIST Ingenieure, led the program and expressed their admiration for the young participants: “It’s great to see the enthusiasm with which the children tackle the task and the interesting results that emerge in the end,” they both agreed.

Of course, the participants also took a look into the future during Future Day: Recruiter Julia Becker presented the diverse career paths available within the corporate group. “From student internships and apprenticeships to work-study positions and dual degree programs—whether in Construction, planning, or business—we have the right job for a wide range of interests and talents,” said Kathrin Kramer.
