Faculty Initiative – Donation to the Food Bank

  • journal

In the run-up to Christmas, our colleagues in Nordhorn worked tirelessly to collect donations for the Christmas raffle. The impressive total: €5,695! We were able to present this amount as a donation to the Nordhorn Food Bank last week.

For the third year in a row, we organized a raffle to support the valuable work of the food bank. As part of this initiative, we also had the opportunity to visit the Nordhorn food bank’s facility—an experience that left a lasting impression on us and that we’d like to share with you.

About the Nordhorn Food Bank:

The organization provides for over 4,000 people living in poverty in Nordhorn and the surrounding area. Thanks to numerous volunteers, food is distributed, meals are delivered to the sick, a community café is run, a lunch program is offered, and various projects for children and families are organized. The volunteers range in age from 16 to 88 and contribute in a variety of ways: whether by baking cakes, providing handyman services, donating their time, or offering financial support. A current priority for the food bank is the purchase of a new van. The existing vehicles collect food daily from about 15 local stores—covering a total of approximately 26,000 km per year. After nine years of loyal service, one of the vans has reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced. Anyone who would like to support the food bank in this important endeavor or contribute their handyman skills can find all the information on the food bank’s website. Cake donations for the café are always welcome—so if you feel like baking, you can do a lot of good! More info about the food bank!
