DGNB Certification with the QNG Seal, including an analysis of available funding options Neighborhood in Cologne
In Cologne-Rodenkirchen, PE Ringviertel GmbH & Co. KG—a joint venture between Bauwens and Convalor—is planning to develop a residential neighborhood and a daycare center.
The so-called Ringviertel in Rodenkirchen is considered a modern and innovative project that is expected to offer future residents many benefits and is currently in Phase 5. The neighborhood comprises a total of 7 buildings with 353 apartments spanning 30,000 square meters of living space, arranged around 4 landscaped courtyards. It will also feature a 6-group daycare center and 228 underground parking spaces. Nearby are Rodenkirchen Beach and several other local recreational areas.
We were commissioned to perform the pre-checks during an earlier service phase and have already completed these services. LIST Eco has now been commissioned to perform the follow-up services for Phase 2, specifically DGNB certification with the QNG seal and ESG verification in accordance with the EU Taxonomy—this includes analyzing funding opportunities, submitting grant applications, providing construction support, and maintaining QNG documentation.

The DGNB "Residential" Use Profile.
The DGNB Residential Use Profile serves as the basis for evaluating and certifying sustainable residential buildings by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). It takes into account all aspects relevant to healthy, sustainable, and resource-efficient living—including energy efficiency, the quality of building materials, sound insulation, thermal comfort, the quality of the living environment, as well as access to amenities and transportation connections.
The entire life cycle of the building is assessed: from planning through construction and operation to demolition and recyclability. The assessment incorporates ecological, economic, and sociocultural criteria. Particular emphasis is also placed on adaptability to demographic changes and long-term value retention. The profile is used for new construction as well as for renovations and covers both multi-unit residential buildings and single-family homes. It establishes a robust foundation for quality, transparency, and future-proofing in residential construction.
